Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on the plot of land currently occupied by a caravan park south of Mead Lane Chertsey. The evaluation involved the opening of thirteen, machine-excavated trenches distributed across the development area. No archaeological features were recorded in any of the trenches. The natural across the site was gravel beneath alluvial clay. One further trench, opened to examine palaeoenvironmental data, suggests that human activity in the prehistoric period in this area was characterised by cultivation of cereals, though no direct evidence for related human activity was established.
