Abstract: |
The evaluation consisted of five evaluation trenches. A large linear feature of Roman date, thought to be a flood protection ditch, was found in two trenches on the western side of the site. Features of likely prehistoric date were also found at the side of the site. Trenches towards the middle of the site early 20th century masonry remains including those of a former picture theatre and several red brick soakaways of likely Victorian age. Rubbish pits of similar date were also observed. A shallow post-medieval or medieval boundary gully was seen in two trenches to the east of the site. [Au(abr)] |
