Abstract: |
A field survey revealed that the two woods were potentially of ancient origin which still showed evidence of coppicing until relatively recent times. Some evidence of quarrying, probably for limestone was also recorded. A pair of lime kilns were subsequently surveyed photographically. Both woods were overgrown and the potential for further archaeological features to be present remains a distinct possibility.[Au(abr)] |
