Abstract: |
The desk-based assessment investigated the potential for the presence of archaeological remains at the site. No archaeological sites were recorded for the Island Site, although a number had been discovered in the immediate vicinity. The history of the paper mill could be traced back to its use as a flourmill in the late 18th century and its beginnings may well have stretched back to the medieval priory mill of St. Neots. The continual development of the mill and the lack of settlement evidence elsewhere on the site may have inhibited the potential for archaeological survival. [Au(abr)] |
