Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment identified that the proposal site had probably suffered little disturbance until the levelling of Red House Farm. The farm buildings dated back to at least 1817 when they seemed to have been fully developed, suggesting possible medieval origins for the farm. Also, the discovery of a Neolithic axe on the edge of the site, the proximity of the site to a Roman road, and its location adjacent to the Saxon and medieval settlement of Bishopsworth, suggested the area may have been in occupation for a very long period.
