Abstract: |
An evaluation of the site by trenching revealed that 19th century cellaring had truncated any earlier deposits present. Some truncated deposits of 17th century date were found, including the base of a brick-built well. There was much 19th/20th century demolition rubble over the site. A mid-20th century destruction horizon was discovered and was considered likely to be the remains of two houses destroyed by enemy bombing on the night of 29th/30th December 1940. [Au(adp)] |
