Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken, consisting of a single trench excavated across a previously identified upstanding circular earthwork. The evaluation showed the banks of the enclosure to be clay derived from the local natural substrate, but no ditch was recorded around the bank. A single struck flint flake was found in the clay of the bank, but no definitive evidence was recorded for the date of its construction. The enclosure banks were cut by ridge and furrow cultivation; the fills of which contained small quantities of post-medieval pottery. [Au(adp)] |
