Abstract: |
The Cuckoo's Nest site lay within the parish of Pulford. A planning application to develop the site had been submitted. The site lay on Glacial Boulder Clay on lowland in the plain of the River Dee. There was medieval ridge and furrow present on the site and a 19th century listed estate brickworks and railway yard complex. The current proposals involved the redevelopment of the brickworks and yard buildings, with an access route through the adjacent field containing ridge and furrow. The archaeological assessment included a desk-based assessment and specialised building assessment. It was concluded that there was a medium archaeological potential for Roman and medieval finds at the site. The Cuckoo's Nest building complexes have been phased from the building assessment.
