Abstract:		 A preliminary assessment of the archaeological and cultural heritage implications of a proposed oil wellsite involved a review of existing data and an initial site inspection. Road improvements would affect a Scheduled Ancient Monument and would require grant of Scheduled Monument Consent from the Department of National Heritage. The improvement of access roads and tracks near West Chaldon Farm could involve minor impacts on an area of poorly preserved former field systems. There were no identified impacts on the area's archaeological or cultural heritage resource caused by the proposed wellsite itself. [Au(adp)]
