Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of foundation trenches for an extension to a building. The site lay on the immediate periphery of an early medieval Scheduled Ancient Monument (BK79), Edward the Confessor's Palace. Cropmarks of prehistoric or Roman date also lay in the vicinity. During the watching brief, no archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed. [Au(abr)] |
