Abstract: |
An excavation was undertaken on land that had previously been evaluated by the Hertfordshire Archaeological Trust. A full section was excavated across the previously identified ditch on the site. The ditch proved to be a large, deep feature, possibly a former drainage ditch feeding the Beverley Brook. It was infilled in the later post-medieval period, but appeared to predate the formal gardens present on the site in the later 19th and early 20th centuries. [Au(abr)] |
