Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the planting of three trees at Minster Close, in response to a condition upon SAM consent. A single context in hole 2, context 2001, was likely to have represented an in-situ archaeological deposit; possibly a demolition or dump layer. All other materials related to extant topsoils and pulverised roots. Additionally, it was noted that a tree immediately behind Abbot Huby's Wall in the grounds of The Old Deanery, a short distance to the west of the observed works, may soon impinge upon the structural integrity of the wall.
