There has been a farm on the site since the early 19th century, and nearby post-medieval quarrying appears to have ben an on-going local industrty for many years. Within the surrounding area there is evidence of Iron Age, Roman and post-Roman archaeology in the forms of roads, settlements, a fortification and dykes. [Au(abr)] |
