Abstract: |
The evaluation was successful in locating archaeological deposits of relevance to the early development of the town. It located a substantial ditch, which from its size, was best considered as an outwork of the castle. The castle was a multiple bailey type and the projected line of an outwork formed the rear of the Market Place properties. The ditch located closely matched the projected line of the castle outer bailey. [Au(abr)] |
