Abstract: |
The watching brief revealed a number of significant medieval archaeological features dated to the 13th-14th centuries. These features included ditch boundaries, a gully, a post hole and a rubbish pit. No evidence of buildings contemporary with these activities was found. However, the evidence recovered denoted that occupation at the medieval hamlet of Minworth Greaves could be dated from 1250-1350 AD. The fill of a 13th-14th century ditch containing pottery dating to the 16th century was recovered, which indicated later occupation at the site possibly associated with the surviving 15th century timber framed barn.
