Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on groundwork for a rear extension to an existing house. The site lay to the north of the medieval town of Southampton. Other sites in the vicinity had produced evidence of human occupation in the Iron Age and in the Roman and Late-Saxon periods. Nothing of that nature was found on the present site; the earliest evidence for human activity was a probable post-medieval agricultural soil. [Au(adp)] |
