Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed a timber alignment which ran across the site in an approximate east-west direction. The structural remains comprised horizontally-lain elements secured or marked by faceted and pointed vertical posts. However, the presumed trackway surface exposed in Trench A was buried beneath blue clay; while that uncovered on the same bearing in Trench C was clearly set into the overlying peat. Therefore the possibility that two distinct phases of track construction existed on the site.[Au(abr)] |
