Abstract: |
The assessment revealed no known archaeology within the site, or immediately adjacent. The site lay on a gravel island above the marshes to the south and may have been a favourable location for prehistoric occupation. A possible Roman cemetery lay c.300m to the south. A former course of the Mayes Brook, masked by deposits of alluvium, crossed the north-western/western area of the site from north-east to south-west. [Au] |
