Abstract: |
The earliest phase comprised a large number of features and artefacts indicating in situ settlement. Based on the artefact evidence, settlement at Alstone seems to be centred on the 3rd to 1st centuries BC. The next phase of activity on the site occured during the medieval period, a series of linear features was likely to represent evidence for field and enclosure boundary or drainage ditches. A possible oven structure and a number of pits of this date were also identified. During the post-medieval period a number of the medieval linear features went out of use and new boundaries or drains were established. A large area of deliberate infilling was identified [Au(adp)] |
