Abstract: |
A non-intensive archaeological survey was carried out on newly acquired land at Brede Level. The survey revealed a number of water filled dykes seperating pasture fields with raised margins. The network of dykes still in use for drainage today may be in part 12th century in date, however, they most probably dated to after the storms of the late 13th century. The significance of the property lay in the fact that it has changed little during the last two hundred years, making it an important resource for future research into the istory of the Brede Valley and the development of the marsh.[Au(abr)] |
