Abstract: |
Four test pits were excavated to investigate the foundations of the basement walls and to determine the archaeological potential of deposits below the floor. The basement walls in each trench sat directly on natural gravel. The wall at the west end of the basement comprised limestone rubble and lime mortar, and the other walls were constructed of bricks bonded with mortar. Early modern and modern features were present in two trenches. The floor surface was ceramic tiles on the west, bricks on the north, and stone rubble on the east. [Au] |
