Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of a proposed residential development site was undertaken. The site lay within the Finedon Conservation Area, which encompassed the medieval core of the village. A Neolithic flint axe, Bronze Age urns and cropmarks representing Iron Age and Romano-British settlements had been recorded in the area. The proposal site had formed part of an avenue associated with Finedon Hall in the early 19th century. Associated parkland, an ice house and the possible site of the medieval manor lay nearby. Part of the site had become a kitchen garden by 1884. It was concluded that the site had a low potential for archaeological features and artefacts. [AIP] |
