Abstract: |
A desk top study of a proposed development site, formerly occupied by a mid-19th century brick and tile works, was undertaken. The majority of the buildings had been subject to emergency recording, prior to their demolition. Infrequent prehistoric and medieval finds, a Middle Iron Age occupation site and two undated enclosures had been recorded in the surrounding area. Two Grade II Listed Buildings, dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, lay to the north. It was concluded that the site lay within an area of fairly low archaeological potential, but that an evaluation of the north-western, undisturbed, part of the site would be advisable. [AIP] |
