Abstract: |
A desk-based survey of Hylton Castle and the surrounding area proved successful in gathering together information on the Archaeological and Cultural Heritage. Sites, features and finds ranging from the Bronze Age to the post-medieval periods were recorded, the history of the castle itself and the families associated with it were also included. A number of proposals for the future role of the castle were put forward, ranging from drama to restoration and horticulture, its position as an asset for the community was highlighted. [AIP] |
