Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during groundworks for the construction of a garage at Coach House Cottage. Floor surfaces and stone walls of a building associated with the medieval Kingswood Abbey, the sole visible surviving remains of which lay c. 60m to the south of the development site and comprised the 16th century Abbey Gatehouse and a section of precinct wall (a Scheduled Ancient Monument ), were revealed. Finds of post-medieval date were also recovered. [AIP] |
