Abstract:		 An archaeological watching brief was carried out during the reinstatement of a backfilled watercourse on a new alignment at Walton Cardiff. The watching brief was carried out due to the position of the new watercourse, immediately to the north of the northern limit of Walton Cardiff deserted medieval village (Scheduled Monument 460). A former land surface, of probable late medieval or early post-medieval date, was identified, marked by an area of cobbled surface at its eastern end and a terrace-edge descending to the Moor Brook at the western end. Three other archaeological features were identified, including a large west-south-west to east-north-east orientated ditch of probable late medieval date, sealed beneath the cobbled surface, an undated truncated V-shaped north to south orientated ditch with a slot at its base and an undated truncated circular feature.
