Abstract: |
The study revealed that there were no known archaeological deposits on or immediately adjacent to the proposal site but there was some evidence of Roman activity in the general area. The site lay beyond the historic core of Epsom and was undeveloped farmland until the building of the waterworks in 1853. The study showed that the area of the site closest to the East Street frontage had been densely occupied by buildings, including subterranean structures and service runs. [Au(adp)] |
