Abstract: |
A large quarry pit with an overhanging edge was located, but not bottomed, continued to the south beyond the current groundwork. The pit had been backfilled with a series of sandy loam deposits containing various quantities of crushed sandstone. A single sherd of medieval pottery was recovered from one of the fills. At a later date, a building was constructed in the area. The area was occupied by a modern brick garage until the current building work. [Au(abr)] |
