Abstract: |
An archaeological investigation was carried out following the discovery of a burial, by the house owner, during the digging of a foundation trench for a retaining wall. The skeleton was aligned west to east in an extended supine position with the head to the west. Bone preservation was poor and many of the smaller bones of the feet and hands were missing. The left side of the skeleton had been damaged by the trenching for the retaining wall. No grave goods were found from the remaining grave fill, although a clay pipe stem was found during the excavations. It was suggested that the remains probably belonged to an adult male. [Au(abr)] |
