Abstract: |
The assessment revealed that the site formerly comprised fields which lay to the north of Hornchurch until the 1920s, when speculative suburban development resulted in the construction of houses and ships in the area. Some development of North Street was likely to have occurred from the 16th century. An excavation immediately to the south revealed a number of updateable features, together with residual post-medieval finds which complemented the known historical development of the area. [Au] |
