Abstract:		 Six 3m by 3m trial trenches were excavated as an evaluation of the site. It was clear from an examination of the trench sections that upon the demolition of the 19th century the site was also comprehensively stripped of its topsoil, presumably for re-use elsewhere. Any archaeological stratigraphy on the site had probably been totally destroyed by this process since all of the trenches yielded the same evidence of clearance. [Au(adp)]
