Abstract: |
A planning application was made for a park and ride facility and retail park at the Copdock Mill Interchange. A previous evaluation undertaken in 1996 had indicated that the area had the potential to contain a Saxon occupation area with probable boundary ditch. The excavation, in 1997, revealed a scatter of pits and postholes, which together with the number of finds indicated that there had indeed been occupation on the site, which appeared to have reached a peak in the 10th century, before the area reverted to agricultural use.
