Abstract: |
The site contained two Grade II listed buildings. The desk-based assessment showed that the site remained undeveloped until the early 19th century. From 1868 the site was occupied by the North Eastern Hospital for Children later to be known as Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The site also accomodated a range of buildings previously occupied in association with its former use and numerous residential buildings. The construction of a variety of structures as part of recent developments would have had a major impact on the remains of any earlier activiy on the site, thefore it seemed unlikely that there would be any archaeological implications.
