Abstract:		 A desk-based assessment was carried out on an area proposed for redevelopment, containing a 17th century Listed Building. The site lay within an area of archaeological potential, being located within the historic core of the town. Fieldwork carried out on the site identified archaeological deposits relating to the burgage plots which would have occupied the area around Church Green. Archaeology, although present, was low in density and did not appear to provide any additional information about earlier, pre-medieval, activity in Witney. It therefore seemed appropriate for a watching brief to be carried out during any ground disturbing works on the site. [Au(adp)]
