Abstract: |
A watching brief during groundworks for the Sports Hall found no conclusive evidence to confirm or reject the tradition of a prehistoric burial mound on the site. Two worked flints were found but no prehistoric pottery. Seven fragments of medieval pottery found in the footing trenches included four sherds which had become worn in water. Part of five features thought to be pits (of unknown function) were exposed; although no secure dating evidence was obtained, these were probably backfilled after the medieval period. [Au] |
