Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of the proposed site of a residential development identified that a number of findspots had been recorded in the surrounding area, indicating a moderate archaeological potential for the site. Artefacts found included a Palaeolithic flint core, a Middle Bronze Age pottery vessel, a hoard of Iron Age coins, a sherd of Roman Alice Holt pottery and medieval objects, comprising a belt buckle, a wolf spear and a harness ornament. The molar of a wooly rhino had also been recorded. It was recommended that trial trenching should be carried out prior to the commencement of construction work at the proposal site. [AIP] |
