Abstract: |
During the course of the evaluation two trenches totalling 15 meres by 1.5 metres were excavated to a depth of between 1.6 metres and 2.1 metres without encountering natural deposits. These had to be closed for health and safety reasons. The lowest recorded deposit comprised a dark grey silty clay and contained waterlogged organic deposits and green glazed 16th century pottery. This deposit may have represented backfill within a large feature such as a pond or quarry. [Au(abr)] |
