Abstract: |
Twenty four trenches, each generally 1.2m wide but varying in length as circumstances dictated, were excavated. The evaluation found evidence of possible prehistoric activity together with early medieval and post-medieval occupation. The prehistoric activity consisted of a shallow gully in trench 23, context 2308, sealed below deposits dated by four worked flints and a small fragment of possible smoothed stone. Other worked flints were recovered. The medieval evidence consisted mainly of a deep pit in trench 23, context 2304 and a feature in trench 26, context 2619. The post-medieval remains were extensive throughout the area occupied by the Bymacks car park (Area F). [Au(adp)] |
