Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during small-scale construction works at Knowle House. These works impinged on the very south western edge of a series of recently surveyed earthworks that formed part of the shrunken medieval village. One element of these earthworks, a low bank, was examined in some detail. Two minor earthwork features of more modern date were also examined and subsequently removed. With the exception of later post-medieval material, few finds were recovered. These consisted of a piece of daub, a Roman rim sherd, a sherd of 11th-12th century medieval pottery and two heavily abraded unidentified sherds of pottery. [Au(abr)] |
