Abstract: |
A number of archaeological deposits dating from early in the medieval period to late in the post-medieval were located by evaluation trenching. Although no definite early medieval structural evidence was recorded on the site, it was certain that the site was occupied and utilised from the 11th century onwards. Archaeological deposits suggested that, in the later medieval period, the site was much more densely occupied, with the possible presence of three chalk floor surfaces and perhaps some redefinition of the river frontage, maybe by reclamation. Post-medieval activity was present on the site, some cutting medieval features. Late post-medieval and modern disturbance was present all over the site. [Au(adp)] |
