Abstract: |
The assessment identified that the site lay within an important archaeological landscape, with the remains of the former Abbey at Cerne Abbas, the Giant chalk figure, and extensive 18th century water meadows within which the site was situated. The archaeological potential of the village hall lay in the presence of the water-meadow system which it was suggested was of above average importance for the country based on a recent study of water-meadows in the Frome and Allen valleys.
