Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of a site proposed for residential development identified that Bronze Age remains had been recorded in the surrounding area, including cremation urns, a palstave and one of the largest cemeteries of this date to have been found in Middlesex. The possible site of a former barrow had also been recorded, and crop-marked ring ditches lay to the north of the proposal site. Later sites in the area comprised the former location of a 12th century chapel, and the Spelthorne Moot. It was concluded that the site had a moderate to high archaeological potential, and that an evaluation should be carried out. [AIP] |
