Abstract: |
The evaluation was carried out in advance of the construction of a ticket booth. Two, possibly three earlier modern phases of the metalled access way were revealed. A dump deposit of predominantly medieval building materials, comprising ragstone blocks and lime mortar, overlay one of the roadways and probably derived fom works associated with the collapse of a gateway. With the exception of re-used and redeposited materials, no archaeological remains were encountered. [Au(abr)] |
