Abstract: |
The evaluation followed on from a desk-based assessment of the area's suitability for the proposed new National Trust headquarters. 19th and 20th century structural remains associated with the former Railway Works were encountered. Although standing remains were long since demolished, ground-level features and below, such as drains and footings, had survived. In isolation, these truncated remains were not considered to be of great importance. However, as part of the GWR works, they were indeed significant. Appropriate mitigation strategies were thought to be helpful in allowing development to go ahead. [Au(adp)] |
