Abstract: |
An archaeological geophysical survey was carried out on an area of pasture where an enlargement of an existing caravan park was proposed. Subsoil anomalies in magnetic susceptibility were recorded using a portable fluxgate magnetometer with readings being logged at 1.0x0.5m gridded intervals. A total area of 0.74ha was surveyed. Geomagnetic anomalies in the study area were found to be very weak , although within the detection limit of the instrument used. With the exception of small areas close to water treatment and sewage facilities, the density of surface ferrous litter was found generally to be low. Tentative evidence for a linear ditch (or land drain) in the central part of the site was seen in the geophysical data. [Au(adp)] |
