Abstract:		 <summary>Extensive evaluation, comprising the excavation of 272 trenches, on land proposed for a housing development in the parish of Thorley, to the west and south-west of Bishop's Stortford, identified ten archaeological sites. These comprised seven sites of prehistoric date (Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age), one site of 3rd to 4th century AD date, one site of Roman or medieval date, and one site of late pre-Roman Iron Age date. A number of infilled modern field boundary ditches were also identified. {italon}AIP{italoff}
