Abstract: |
Observation of foundation trenches for an extension on the edge of the part of the polyfocul medieval village of Chesterton Magna identified the remains of a limestone rubble wall. The wall produced no dating material. To the north-west there was a pit, also undated, which was cut by a water pipe. In the western corner of the site there was an undated rubble spread. It was considered possible that the wall belonged to a medieval or early post-medieval building - its construction was consistent with this- but in the absence of dating evidence it was not possible to be sure.
