Abstract: |
A watching brief during groundworks for a residential development revealed that levelling had taken place in the south and centre of the site, leaving a "bank" of slightly higher ground in the northern part of the site. In the area directly adjacent to Charfield Road, imported topsoil directly overlying natural limestone indicated that the area was landscaped probably when the exits to Eastleigh and Westleigh Roads onto Charfield Road were constructed. The centre of the site was disturbed by natural limestone when the Baptist Church was built in the 1930s. [Au] |
