Abstract: |
A detailed magnetic and resistance survey was carried out on the site of a moated earthwork enclosure thought to be of medieval date. Both surveys identified features of archaeological origin. The resistance survey clearly picked up the extent of the visible earthwork enclosure, along with other areas of high resistance which could have indicated further structural remains, with possible weak evidence of a further enclosure to the north-east of the existing enclosure. A distinct cut feature was highlighted in the magnetometer survey, running parallel with the north-east side of the earthwork, which could have represented part of the moat surrounding the enclosure. Further cut features identified may have been pits or ditches of archaeological origin. [Au(abr)] |
