Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed medieval features buried beneath a typical depth of 550 mm of soil across the entire site. The results of the evaluation confirmed the results of the geophysical survey which demonstrated that the main area of activity focused on the kilns which were located in the south-east corner of the field. However, other aspects of the 14th century pottery production process, including clay and sand quarrying, terracing with tracks and a pit, and a pit for waste pottery disposal, occupied the southern two-thirds of the site.
